Cynthia L. “Cyndee” Ward, 70, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 10:21 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2020 at her home. She was born February 16, 1950 in Evansville, Indiana. She retired from the Army Corp of Engineers after 30 years of dedicated service with the federal government as a Historian Project Assistant. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Mitchell. Cyndee loved to sew, enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid Wheel of Fortune fan. She loved cars and enjoyed attending car shows and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mark A. Carrico of Granite City and Melvin and Dana Carrico of Granite City; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Rich Proffitt of Granite City; many nieces; nephews; cousins; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, William Ward; her mother and stepfather, Eloise Estel (Holder) and Clinton Carrico and a brother, Michael Ward. In celebration of her life, the family is having a private visitation and funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Mitchell with Reverend Richard Harmon officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation to the American Heart Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.
