Gerald Don Tekell, 91, of Corsicana, passed away at his home on September 29, 2020 with his wife Lynda, and step-daughter Dayna, at his side. Don was born September 5, 1929 to Marvin and Gladys (Jordan) Tekell in Corsicana. Don was a man of strong integrity and character, very trustworthy, and dependable. What directed his values and life was his faith in Jesus Christ. He began each and every day by reading his Bible. Don was faithful at heart, serving the Lord as a deacon at First Baptist Church since 1962. Family and friends were very important to him. Don was a graduate of Baylor University with a MBA and has been a lifelong supporter of the Bears. He managed Tekell Furniture Company with his brother Joe Bob for 32 years. In 1983, he changed careers and got into the banking business with Interfirst Bank. He finished his 35 yearcareer in banking at Citizens National Bank. Don was preceded in death by his parents; first wife June Carol Tekell; and his brother Joe Bob Tekell. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Lynda Tekell; sons Keith (Donna) Tekell of Knoxville, TN, Craig (Christi) Tekell of Corsicana, Victor (Gabrielle) Tekell of Houston; step-daughters Dayna Mayer of Tyler and Roxanne Waterman (Eddie) of Tyler; grandchildren Tyler Tekell of Corsicana, Christian (Kelsey) Tekell, Hayley (Nick) Nieto, Emily Tekell all of Houston, Ashley (Mason) Parker of Knott, TX, Courtney (Jourdan)Brogdon of Pearland, Kristen (Shawn) Boyd of Waco, and Jonathan (Jillian) Tekell of Dallas. Step-grandchildren are Erin (Trevor) McNeill, Camille (Houston) Munsinger, and Russell Waterman all of Tyler, Sol Mayer of Norman OK and Avery Mayer of San Angelo; great-grandchildren are Bethany and Makenna Brogdon, Kara Boyd, Reagan Salmon, Cooper Munsinger, and 2 more on the way. The family would like to give special thanks to Don’s caregivers Brenda Suddeth, Valerie Clay, Bernice Henry, and Juanita Harris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s name to the building fund at First Baptist Church of Corsicana. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with a service to be held at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Corsicana with Dr. Danny P. Reeves officiating.
