Nelda Gay Goad
<p>Mrs. Nelda Gay Owens Goad, age 87, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Stokes County to the late Isom and Lillian Cook Owens. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memories are a daughter and son-in-law, Charnell and Marvin Slater; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Debbie Goad; grandchildren, Shelly Slater, Sharon Slater, Kevin Goad and wife Kim, Keith Goad and wife Lisa; great-grandchildren, Jarrett, Emma, Hannah, Emily, Molly, Katlyn, Charlotte, Lillian, Ivy and Edith; sister, Rebecca O. Snow; sister-in-law, Mary Owens as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Goad was preceded in death by her husband Charles Goad Jr and a grandson, Chad Slater; sister, Chassie O. Pell and a brother, Homer Owens. A private graveside service for the family will be held in Oakdale Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family would like to send a special thanks to Northern Regional Hospital, Ridgecrest Assisted Living, and Mountain Valley Hospice for all the care and love extended to our Mom and Mamaw.
