<p>Mrs. Nelda Gay Owens Goad, age 87, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.&nbsp; She was born in Stokes County to the late Isom and Lillian Cook Owens.&nbsp; She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that will surely be missed by all who knew her.&nbsp; Left to cherish her memories are a daughter and son-in-law, Charnell and Marvin Slater; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Debbie Goad; grandchildren, Shelly Slater, Sharon Slater, Kevin Goad and wife Kim, Keith Goad and wife Lisa; great-grandchildren, Jarrett, Emma, Hannah, Emily, Molly, Katlyn, Charlotte, Lillian, Ivy and Edith; sister, Rebecca O. Snow; sister-in-law, Mary Owens as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Goad was preceded in death by her husband Charles Goad Jr and a grandson, Chad Slater; sister, Chassie O. Pell and a brother, Homer Owens.&nbsp; A private graveside service for the family will be held in Oakdale Cemetery.&nbsp; There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.&nbsp; The family would like to send a special thanks to Northern Regional Hospital, Ridgecrest Assisted Living, and Mountain Valley Hospice for all the care and love extended to our Mom and Mamaw.
