Winfield Stokes, on 88 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2020 Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.  Open visitation will be from noon until 6:00, Monday at the funeral home. 

Family visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the mortuary.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Green Hills Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers.

Winfield Boyd Stokes was born September 3, 1932 in Unionville, MO to Cecil Edgar “Red” and Naomi Faye (Green) Stokes.  He graduated from Trenton High School.  In 1955 and 1956 He served in the United States Air Force.  On October 18, 1971 he was united in marriage to Elgeva Lucille Chowing in Miami OK.  She preceded him in death January 15, 2006.  Winfield worked as a janitor at Rissler Elementary School from 1973 through 1994.  He enjoyed watching Monday Night Professional Wrestling and the Chiefs games.  He also loved eating peanut butter straight from the jar.

Surviving Relatives include his sister Linda Peters of Trenton, a sister in law Caroline Stokes of Trenton, and nieces and nephews.

Those preceding him in death include his parents, wife, a brother Cecil Stokes Jr., a sister Elizabeth Swiger and a niece Rhonda Lamp.
