Ruth E. Metzler, 74, of Saegertown, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

 

She was born May 3, 1946 in Erie, a daughter of Leo C. and Dorothy Rose Moore Geiger.  She married Gary L. Metzler October 14, 1967.

 

Ruth was a 1967 graduate of Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing with her Register Nurse’s degree.  She worked as an RN at Meadville Medical Center for 33 years.

 

Ruth was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219 auxiliary, Saegertown American Legion Post 205, West Mead 2 auxiliary, and a life member of VFW Post 2006.

 

Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Gary, include a daughter, Julie Metzler; two sons, Kirk and Edward Metzler; five grandchildren, Jonah, Hannah, Cody, Garet and Evan; a great-granddaughter, Cassidy; two brothers, Donald and Leo Geiger; a sister, Kathy Hunt; and nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles John Geiger and an infant sister, Mary Lee Geiger.

 

Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 28th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST, MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Fr. Jeffery Lucas officiating.  The wearing of masks is requested.
