Lucy "Dolly" G. Horrigan

Lucy "Dolly" Gallicchio Horrigan, 87, of Newington, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Rocco and Lucy (Vassallo) Gallicchio, she was a longtime Newington resident and a member of St. Mary’s Church. Lucy enjoyed reading, walking on the beach, volunteering and visiting with residents at the Jefferson House. She loved family gatherings, celebrating every holiday, taking photographs, and would never forget family and friends’ birthdays or significant life events. She helped keep Hallmark and the post office in service with all the cards she would send, letting you know she cared. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves her two daughters, Deborah Durity of Newington, and Darlene Rood of Winsted, her six grandchildren Jennifer Gagnon, Daniel Durity, Jeremy Avery and his wife Nicole, Christopher Rood and his wife Morgan, Ryan Rood and his fiancé Janet, and Dalton Horrigan, and two great grandchildren Olivia and Gavin Avery. She also leaves her two brothers, Victor Gallicchio of Newington and Anthony Gallicchio of Ellington, her brother-in-law Rocco Lapenta of Newington, two loves of her life Don Horrigan and Walter Schultz, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sons, Dennis and Donald Horrigan. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 30th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a service at 7 p.m. in same location.
