Jonah Maynard, age 98, passed from this life, Thursday, September 24, 2020. Jonah was born April 15, 1922, to the late Millard and Angeline “Lowe” Maynard in Pikeville, KY. Besides both parents, Jonah is preceded in death by his wife, Mable Maynard; sister, Elmay Ray; brothers, Benny Maynard, Orison Maynard, James Pry Maynard, John Cap Maynard. Jonah is survived by his devoted daughter, Carolyn Thacker and her husband, Gary; granddaughter, Gina Wolters and her husband, John; great granddaughter, Savannah Wolters; sister, Ester Goff; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jonah was an avid member to the Big Branch Old Regular Baptist Church. Jonah was also lifetime member of the Water Well Drilling Association. Jonah will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will accept friends at Thacker Memorial Funeral Home, Friday, September 25, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Funeral services for Jonah will be Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at the Apple Orchard Cemetery. Jonah Duane Smith, Richard Staton and Gary Young will be officiating over all services for Jonah. Thacker Memorial Inc., will be over all arrangements for the Maynard family.
