Durward "Ed" Edward James, 83, of Republic, Missouri, passed from this life on Thursday, September 24, 2020. He was born in Eldon, Missouri, on August 30, 1937. Ed served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time with family and watching all sports, especially football and baseball. Ed retired from Havertys Furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Shelby Brian Harris. Ed is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay, of the home; two daughters, Becky Ownby and Rhonda James, both of Springfield and daughter in law, Nancy Harris of Denver, CO; six grandchildren; Ashley Kellison (Kevin) of Springfield, Whitney Ryker (Austin) of Walnut Grove, Amanda Bridges (Louis) of Kearney, MO, Courtney Pruente (Colt) of Republic, Hillary Harris of Denver, CO, and Jacob Kissell of Kearney, MO; five great-grandchildren; Camden Gatewood, Kloe Kellison, Mason Kellison, Olivia Ryker, and Rowyn Pruente; and numerous friends and extended family. A memorial visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. A committal service, with full military honors, will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 South Southwood Road, in Springfield, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to CoxHealth at Home (Hospice) . His care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd.
