Stephen J. Maciel, 73, of Beechcrest St., Warwick, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Kent Hospital. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. Born in East Providence, December 5, 1946, he was a son of the late John Maciel and Mary (Andrews) Maciel. Steve was U.S. Air Force Veteran. He worked for decades as a limousine driver for Arrow Limousine and later at the Rebello Funeral Home as a funeral attendant. He leaves behind his wife, Ann-Marie Sturdahl, daughter Stephanie Sayles and husband her Johnathan, son Derek Hopkins and his wife Ashley; and three brothers, James and his wife Ann-Marie, John and his wife Pat, and Richard and his wife Diane. He is also the brother of the late Lionel Maciel. Steve was the grandfather to his grandsons, Derek and Stephen Hopkins and the late Callum Sayles. Steve was a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also loved to go bowling, play cards and go shopping, where he was always able to find the best deals. Steve was a true gentleman with a big heart. He was always easy-going and had a great upbeat attitude. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours Friday, September 25, from 5pm until 8pm in the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence. Following the COVID-19 guidelines of the RIDOH, 15 people in total, including Steve’s family, are permitted in the funeral home at any time. Social distancing is required as well as the wearing of face masks.
