Janie Marie Ott

Lonaconing, MD- Janie Marie Ott, 73, of Lonaconing, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at her home. Born January 10, 1947 in Green Spring, she was the daughter of the late Jacob A. Frye and Beulah B. (Kerns) Frye. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Ott; and siblings, Fred Frye, Robert Frye, Audrey Strzyz, Nellie Born, and Jackie Frye. Mrs. Ott was a graduate of Romney High School. She was a devout Catholic, having been a member of Our Lady of The Mountains Parish, St. Mary’s Church. Janie enjoyed sewing, going to yard sales, and loved the Dallas Cowboys. Most of all, she loved her family and treasured her time spent with them. Survivors include her children, John Umstead, Kathleen Plagmann and husband Garrett, Joseph Ott, Justin Ott, Jennifer Ott, and James Ott and wife Virginia; special granddaughter, Jessica White and husband Joseph, and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she loved very much. She is also survived by her siblings, Leroy Frye, Velma Smith, Francis Frye, Bonnie Payton, and Shirley McClellan; and her first husband, Russell Umstead. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Friday from Noon-1 PM. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 1 PM, with Deacon David Conley, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Glen Cemetery, Green Spring. Memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Western Maryland Hospice, 1050 W. Industrial Blvd., Cumberland, MD 21502. PLEASE NOTE: Masks are required, and social distancing must be maintained while in the funeral home.
