Graveside service will be live on American Lutheran Church Worthington Facebook page on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. Private family burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery. Clarence Robert (Bob) Willardson was born April 14, 1930 to Clarence Peter and Pearl Hay Willardson. He attended Worthington public schools and served in the National Guard while in high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was starting his senior year in high school. He was deployed on the Bon Homme Richard aircraft carrier during the Korean Conflict. After his service to the Navy, he came back to Worthington and graduated from Worthington Community College. Bob went on to South Dakota State University where he graduated with a B.S. in Pharmacy. While there he met Margaret Dam who he married at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler, Minnesota on July 27, 1958. Bob and Margaret lived in Rochester for 2 ½ years where he was employed by Osco Drug and Weber and Judd Clinic Pharmacy at the Mayo Clinic. He next managed the Austin Clinic Pharmacy in Austin. They belonged to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and belonged to the Men’s Club. In 1970, they moved to Fairmont where he was a partner in Fair Mall Drug and he managed the store for twelve years. While there, they belonged to Grace Lutheran Church where Bob served a term on Church Council. He also belonged to the Rotary Club while there. He was also a member of Lions Club until it disbanded. The last move was back to Worthington in 1982 to manage the two Sterling Drug Stores. He and his wife are the proud parents of four sons. He enjoyed taking them water skiing and fishing. They worked in the drug stores and learned a great deal about life and working with others from him. Bob was an empathic supporter and champion of those in need; helping many others in the community in his humble ways. Bob was a loving husband and father and was very protective of his loved ones, including his sister, Shirley. Bob and Margaret enjoyed travelling in their retirement, particularly to be at a place by the water. They were able to visit their son, Mark, twice in Taiwan. They became grandparents to Ella and Cole during their retirement years and enjoyed very much having them come to visit. Bob and Margaret are members of American Lutheran Church in Worthington. Bob was an avid conservationist and loved to pheasant hunt first with his dog, Ginger and later with his dog, Sammy. He would bring Margaret’s cookies to farmers who thoughtfully gave him permission to hunt on their land. Bob passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at his home in Worthington, MN. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret and by sons Mark (May), Hong Kong, Niel (Angie) Golden Valley, Minnesota, John, Willmar, Minnesota, and Phillip (Dulce), Worthington and grandchildren, Ella and Cole, Golden Valley, Minnesota. He is also survived by his nephews Tom (Chandler), Carlson, Springfield, MO, Mike (Carol) Carlson, Lone Jack, MO, Bob Carlson, St. Petersburg, FL, Krist Carlson, Springfield, MO, and niece Liisa (Joel) Reeter, Brighton, MO. He is also survived by his stepbrother Stan (Janet) Lambert and stepsister Shirley (Allan) Rezabek, Maple Plain, MN and many cousins.
