Sammy Glenn Beasley Obituary

Mr. Sammy Glenn Beasley, 63, of Acworth, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 23, 2020.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Acworth, Georgia 30101.

Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be admitted to the service.

Sammy Glenn Beasley was born on October 1, 1956, in Cartersville, Georgia, to the late Grady Beasley, Sr. and Margie Nell Beasley.  He was one of three children.  As a child, he received his early spiritual guidance at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Jones Street.

Sammy was a graduate of Cartersville High School Class of 1975.  During his senior year he made the All-American All-Star Football team and to date still holds a record that has yet to be broken.  On November 26, 1975 he married Deborah E. Hill of Acworth, Georgia.  To this union one child was born, Takia Beasley.  Sammy embraced his calling and accepted Christ in 1984.  In the early 90’s he moved to College Park, Georgia where he began working with troubled and under privileged youth.

Sammy had a love for driving and drove a variety of tractor trailers for a period of 32 years.  He was a natural born comedian, and was very witty, always laughing, smiling and spreading joy.  He also enjoyed trying to sing, dubbed by his father-in-law as “Elnora’s Crooner”.  He also enjoyed videoing and drawing things.  Sammy’s #1 goal was to make a positive difference in someone’s life.  He was ordained an Apostle in 1994 at the Open-Door Outreach Center in College Park, Georgia and preached the word with conviction and without fear.  He served as interim Pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia as well.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Grady Beasley, Jr.

Sammy is survived by the love of his life, Deborah Beasley-Bennett; daughter, Takia Beasley-Brown; three grandchildren, Taylour M. Pass, Jourdan M. Pass, and Morgan E. Brown; one sister, Darlene Dunnah (Peter); a very special cousin, Daniel Price; two extraordinary nieces, Margaret Conley and Marie Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
