Arthur "Bob" Robert McClure

Arthur Robert “Bob” McClure, 94, of Arkansas City, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020, at the William Newton Hospital in Winfield. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Bob was born May 24, 1926, to Arthur G. and Fletah C. (Jenkins-Woodyard) McClure in Wichita. Bob attended schools in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1944. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. After his discharge Bob went to school at Kansas State University where he earned his Bachelors Degree and graduated in 1950. In November of 1946, Bob married Mickey Helm. The couple made their home in numerous places due to his job. Bob worked for Retail Credit Company in 1950. He then went to work for Standard Oil in 1952 till 1957, when the couple moved to Arkansas City. Bob worked for New York Life, United Agency, then General Electric. He then attended South Western College where he earned his teacher certification. Bob taught 8th grade Social Studied for 21 years until his retirement in 1989. After his retirement, he and Mickey loved to go RVing. They moved to the Ark City Presbyterian Manor in 2005. Survivors include his daughters Chris Ann Hutchens of Wellington; Clair Lee Cassidy of Longwood, FL; grandchildren Kevin Hoey and wife Caitlyn of Altamonte Springs, FL; Lorraine Hoey of San Francisco, CA; Catherine “Kate” Hutchens, Kira Lee Lake and husband Neil all of Wellington, KS; great-grandchildren Teresa, Nicholas, and Christopher Hoey, Ethan and Peyton Hoey, Margot and Finn Lake, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mickey, and a sister Carmon Huegel. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.
