Winola Marie Jones
Stonington Winola Marie Jones, 92, died September 19, 2020 at the Island Nursing Home in Deer Isle. She was born in Stonington, October 11, 1927, the daughter of Emery and Ethena (Shepard) Buckminster. She graduated from Stonington High School in 1945. She went to Husson College, (Maine School of Business) and later worked as a bookkeeper for the Sardine Factory, Lobster Co-Op, Hale & Hamlin Law Office, Lobster Transport and Dry Dock. Marie was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church. She was involved in the Women’s group and taught Sunday school. She was also a bookkeeper for the church and helped prepare and serve many church suppers. She was always looking forward to the many reunions and women’s retreats at the church campground in Brooksville. Marie was loved and adored by her grandchildren and always made time to be with them. She traveled many times to Minnesota to visit with family there. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and was a kind and generous person who was loved by many. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, John Jones and wife Barbara of Deer Isle, Ann Finocchiaro and husband Robert of Stillwater, MN and Frank Jones and wife Terri-Lee of Stonington; grandchildren, Nicole Jones-Bolduc and wife Kathy, Marcie Ellis Butkovic and husband Joe, Ryan Jones and fiancé Kimberly Yurchick, Heather Bartlett Gilmore and Brian, Philip Finocchiaro and wife Meghan, Joseph Finocchiaro, Derek Jones and wife Heather, Kyle Jones and fiancé Ashlyn Gray and Brittany Jones; great-grandchildren, Isaac Bolduc, Megan Ellis, Ella Ellis Daley, Finnan Gilmore, Emery Jones, Harper Jones, Dawson Jones and Cleveland Wing; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Kenneth Jones; brother Raymond Buckminster; sister Myrna Webb. The family suggests memorials to Veteran’s Memorial Monument Fund, Deer Isle Town Office, Deer Isle 04627. Make checks payable to Town of Deer Isle. A graveside service will be held 1:00pm September 27, 2020 at the Tea Hill Cemetery, Stonington. A reception will follow at the home of Frank and Terri-Lee Jones.
