James Grunenwald

James Walter Grunenwald, age 82, passed away on September 20, 2020 at his home in Athens, Texas. He was born on August 11, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio, to Paul Edward Grunenwald and Agnes Elizabeth Grunenwald. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Raye Grunenwald; his son, Eric (Butch) Kirby; grandson, Colby Waltman, great great-grandson, Ryche Song; and nephews, James and Kenneth Grunenwald. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved everything planes, trains, and automobiles. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Paul Grunenwald and wife Barbara of Bellevue, Kentucky, Bill Grunenwald and wife Marilyn of Kettering, Ohio; daughters, Elizabeth Widmer of Logansport, Louisiana, Benita Littleton and husband Roger of Athens, Becky Waltman and husband Calvin of Kemp, Denise Weishuhn and husband Kenny of Fayetteville; son, Kyle Kirby and wife Mary of Irving; eleven grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. A private family funeral service will be held. There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements by Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
