W. Lawton Taylor, Sr. Obituary

W. Lawton Taylor, Sr., 77, died Monday evening (September 21, 2020) at Memorial Satilla Health. He was a native of Alma, GA and lived many years in Alma and Ware County before moving to Pierce County. He retired from CSX as a manager of administration. He was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church for over 40 years, was a member of the Lions Club, and served as secretary and treasurer of the CSX Officers Club for 15 years. He also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was the son of the late Walter Ewing Taylor, Sr. and the late Ethel Teston Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Ewing Taylor, Jr. and a sister, Bonnie Etherton. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat Douglas Taylor of Blackshear, GA; four sons, W. Lawton Taylor, Jr. (wife Lori) of Blackshear, GA, Johnny Taylor (wife Jennifer) of Blackshear, GA, Jimmy Taylor (wife Lana) of Ware County, GA, and Rodney Taylor of Savannah, GA; 11 grandchildren, Seth Taylor, Anslei Taylor, Brody Taylor, Addison Taylor, Emmaline Taylor, Brooke Taylor, Will Taylor, Brooke Price, Kinsley Price, Kevin Taylor, Drake Sheys; and a sister, Jane Davis of Orlando, FL. A funeral service will be held Friday morning (September 25, 2020) at Jamestown Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma, GA. The family will begin receiving friends at the church starting at 10:00 AM Friday. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
