Roy M. Blalock, age 80, of Canton, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Mr. Blalock was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church. He retired from Lockheed Martin. Roy loved antique cars and enjoyed flying small planes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Annice Mae Blalock; brother, Kenneth Blalock; and sister-in-law, Dot Satterfield. Roy is survived by his wife, Gail Blalock; daughters, Tammy Walker and Sandy Roland; grandchildren, Jeff Peardon (Whitney), Jenna Roland (Ren), Tanner Bailey and Trey Walker; sisters, Betty Whitmire (Mackey) and Judy Needham (Gary); sister-in-law, Brenda Timmons; and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Peardon, Ren Lewis, Eddie Satterfield, Todd Satterfield, Barry Satterfield and Kevin Lunsford. Due to COVID-19 facial coverings are required, no food is permitted and limited seating is available due to social distancing requirements.
