David Lee Bleivik

Rev. Dr. David Lee Bleivik of Ellicott City, died on Sept. 22, 2020. He was born in Pittsfield, MA in 1946 to Lars and Dorothy Bleivik and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Taylor University with a degree in education. Following graduation he bicycled with Wandering Wheels for 6 weeks across the U.S. from San Francisco to NYC. He then enlisted in the army and served 3 yrs as a counter intelligence agent stationed in Nurnberg, Germany. After the army, Dave attended Princeton Theological Seminary where he met his wife Ann of 46 yrs. He received a Master of Divinity degree in 1974. He later received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He served as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Darlington PA; Pioneer Memorial Church, Solon OH; Greenbrier Presbyterian Church, Chesapeake VA; First Presbyterian Church, Anchorage AK; and First Presbyterian Church, Dearborn MI. He also served as General Presbyter of Washington Presbytery in southwest PA. Dave is survived by his wife, Ann Brandon Bleivik; his son David Jr. (Becky), his daughter Christina (Greg), his grandson David Elijah, granddaughters Addison and Jolene, sister Barbara Wilmot, sister-in-law Jane Bleivik and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. Dave loved to read, to travel and to watch and play sports and to help others in their faith journey. A memorial service will be held sometime in the spring when hopefully social distancing requirements will have been lessened. Memorials may be given to your church’s local benevolence fund to help the people in your community.
