<p><strong>Linda Rae (Simmonds)&nbsp;Hietbrink</strong>, 74, of Shenandoah, Iowa, entered into rest on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha.&nbsp; Celebration of Life funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at 10:30 am at Cornerstone Fellowship Church with Pastor Roy Nelson officiating.&nbsp; Open visitation and viewing will take place from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, Sept. 25, with the family greeting relatives and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service.&nbsp; Burial will take place in the Omaha National Cemetery at 10:00 am on Monday, September 28, 2020.&nbsp; Memorials in Linda&#39;s name are being directed to Cornerstone Fellowship Church.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Linda Rae (Simmonds) Hietbrink, daughter of James Robert and June Elizabeth (Springer) Simmonds, was born on July 8, 1946 in Red Oak, Iowa.&nbsp; She entered into eternal peace on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at &nbsp;&nbsp;Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska following a brief illness at the age of 74 years, 2 months, 12 days.</p> <p>Her&nbsp;&nbsp; early&nbsp;&nbsp; life was spent growing up in&nbsp;&nbsp; Emerson, Iowa, where Linda attended Emerson elementary. She attended Nishna Valley Jr./Sr. High School, graduating with the Class of 1964.</p> <p>In 1966, Linda was united in marriage to Gary Weese.&nbsp; They resided in South Carolina and later Underwood, Iowa.&nbsp; They were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer Marie, in 1968 and a son, Jeffery Eldon, in 1970.&nbsp;&nbsp; They divorced in 1983.&nbsp;</p> <p>In 1996, she met Larry Hietbrink and they were later married on January 25, 1997 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.&nbsp; Together they resided in Colorado, Missouri, and Iowa.&nbsp; &nbsp;They moved to Shenandoah in 2018.</p> <p>Throughout the years, Linda worked at the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs from 1964 &ndash; 1975.&nbsp; &nbsp;From 1976 &ndash; 1980 for H &amp; R Block.&nbsp; And from 1980 &ndash; 1985 she worked for the Shane Company. &nbsp;&nbsp;From 1986 &ndash; 1998, she worked for Johnson Controls in Colorado. &nbsp;&nbsp;In 1998, she went to work for the Developmental Disabilities Resource Center in Lakewood, Colorado until her retirement in 2007.</p> <p>Her hobbies included gardening, quilting and drawing.&nbsp;&nbsp; Linda also enjoyed going camping.&nbsp; She was a member of the Red Hat Society while living in Cameron, Missouri. &nbsp;Most of all, she loved being a grandma and a great grandma.&nbsp;</p> <p>Preceding Linda in death were her parents; and sister, Virginia. &nbsp;Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Larry Hietbrink of Shenandoah, IA;&nbsp; daughter, Jennifer Gibson and husband Ken of Colorado Springs , CO;&nbsp; son,&nbsp; Jeffrey Weese of Evergreen, CO;&nbsp; step-daughter, Yvette Zacher and husband Mike of Strasburg, CO; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren;&nbsp;eight siblings, Ron Simmonds and wife Delores of&nbsp;Evanston, WY, Saundra Simmonds of Colorado, Springs, CO, &nbsp;Roger Simmonds and wife Colette of Wasougal, WA, Mike Simmonds and wife Cindy of Shenandoah, IA, &nbsp;David Simmonds and wife Libby of Junction City, KY, John Simmonds and wife Naomi of Red Oak,&nbsp; IA, Rita Renz and husband Dave of Colorado&nbsp; Springs, CO, and Tom Simmonds and wife Debra of Perryville, KY; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.</p>
