Debra F. Prehn, 62 of Taylorville, formerly of Springfield, died at 8:43 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Taylorville Skilled Nursing Home. Debra was born on August 14, 1958 in Chicago, the daughter of Jerome and Hazel (Webb) Baron. Debra graduated from Cleveland High School in St. Louis in 1978 and went on to take some college credits in childcare. She married Harold Prehn on October 18, 1991 in Springfield and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2000. She worked most of her life at Christian County Mental Health Association. When she was not working, Debra thoroughly enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and keyboard for Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a member, as well as the A.M.E. Church and the Lighthouse Apostolic Church. Debra was a self-taught pianist, learning and playing best by ear. She enjoyed her time playing for preschool graduation and Christmas programs. Debra was a member of the Choir, the Chime Choir, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of hearing her play. Along with her husband, Debra was preceded in death by her parents and her grandmother: Eva Chapman of St. Louis. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, September 25, 2020 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Her committal service followed by inurnment will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. Memorial contributions in her memory may be left to Trinity Lutheran Church or Christian County Mental Health Association.
