<p>Opelousas – A Private Ceremony will be held for Mr. Russell Darby’s immediate family & close friends on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Sibille Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Bayou Jacques Church of Christ Cemetery in Big Cane, LA.</p> <p>Mr. Darby, age 69, a native and resident of Opelousas, passed away at his residence after a lengthy illness on Saturday, September 19, 2020.</p> <p>Russell is survived by his Ex-wife and mother of his children, Joann Lavergne; five children; 3 daughters, Tracie Darby Pitre and husband, Craig of Pecan Island, LA, Shanda Darby of Villle Platte, LA, and Lacie Darby and fiancé, Roth Hainkel of New Orleans; 2 sons, Michael Darby and wife, Mindy of Sunset, LA, and Christopher Darby and wife, Nikki of Keller, TX; brother, Darrell Darby of Plaucheville, LA; niece/ godchild, Melissa Darby Dawson of Baytown, TX; 11 grandchildren, Alex, Abbie, Aaron, Morgan, Malorie, Mason, Kate, Laken, Kamren, Madison and Payton; and 13 great-grandchildren. </p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson “Shine” Darby and Ann Savage Darby.</p> <p>Words of Comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibillefuneralhomes.com.
