Kathern Belle (Eye) Portell of Shirley, Missouri was born July 10, 1937 in Anthonies Mill, Missouri a daughter to the late Clyde Rexie Eye and Edna Marie (Harper) Eye. Kathern departed this life Sunday, September 20, 2020 having reached the age of 83 years, 2 months and 10 days. In 1954, Kathern was united in marriage to Johnny Isgriggs and they were blessed with two sons. She later married Billy Gene Portell, who preceded her in death in 1971. Kathern is survived by her son, Rex Guy Isgriggs and wife Kelly of Steelville, Missouri; daughters-in-law, Leoma Sue Johnson of Potosi, Missouri, Theresa Eaves of Potosi, Missouri, Leah Beth Hutchings of Potosi, Missouri; sister, Ruby Crocker of Shirley, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Kati) Isgriggs, Rexanna (Dustin) Brewer, Katie (Steven) Rhives, Cameron (Kimmie) Isgriggs, Kattee Wilkinson, Kelsey Rea, Jerry (Melinda) Rea; great grandchildren: Eli Alan Isgriggs, Brayden Wayne Isgriggs, Jocelyn Rene Isgriggs, Curtiss Joseph Brewer, Carter Brewer, Sadie Katherine Rhives, Adeline Jo Rea, Gracee Underwood, Ellee Underwood, Mollee Jean Wilkinson, Kenlee Wilkinson, Aiden Isgriggs, Gunner Isgriggs, Cameron Isgriggs, Jr. and many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Kathern was preceded in death by her son, Reginald Wayne Isgriggs; brothers, Lester Edward Eye, Kenneth Junior Eye; sister, Neoma Ruth Williams. Kathern had a sweet soul and touched many lives with her contagious smile. She worked for many years at Brown Shoe and from there went on to work at the YMCA, where she retired. She was classy, stylish and glamorous, always looking her best. After retirement, she enjoyed baking, tending to her garden, going to the beauty shop, shopping, road riding and watching The Young and the Restless, never missing an episode. Above everything, she loved her family and kept them close in her heart. Her style, smile and love will be deeply missed. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
