<p>HAMMEL, William K. - of Burton died on Monday, September 21, 2020 at McLaren Hospital, Flint. Mr. Hammel was born March 24, 1942 in Mt. Morris, the son of Albert and Beatrice (Lovett) Hammel. He served in the Army and worked for Fisher Body and Buick until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren as well as attending Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was married to Pamela Klump Hammel on February 24, 1962 until her death and Neta Mae Schlomer Hammel on August 10, 1996 until her death. Mr. Hammel is survived by his five sons: Lee (Julie), Robert, and Joseph Hammel; Robert (Jenny) and Carl (Michelle) Schlomer; grandchildren Rob, Will, Katie, Tyler, Hannah, Samantha, Steven, Carl, Curtis, Christina, and Derek; and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Charles, James, and Nola Hammel, sisters-in-law, Gayle and Ethel Hammel, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Pamela; second wife, Neta Mae; and brothers, Albert, Frank, and Ray. A private Celebration of Life, officiated by Rev. Jack Dowden, Emmanuel Baptist Church, will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial contributions to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
