Anne Marie Tyrrell Beverly, Massachusetts Obituary

Anne Marie Tyrrell

Anne Marie (Putney) Tyrrell, 78, of Danvers, MA passed away peacefully with her son and daughter by her side on September 19, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 16, 1942 in Salem, MA. Anne Marie was the oldest child of the late John and Harriett (Lee) Putney. Anne Marie attended Ste. Chretienne Academy and after graduation worked at Borden Chemical as a receptionist. Anne Marie was a devoted mother and homemaker raising her children in Beverly, MA. She was a fixture at field trips, bake sales and soccer games and enjoyed the role of mother and homemaker for 20 years. Anne Marie re-entered the workforce once the children were grown; she was employed by GEM Group for nearly 30 years as a receptionist before retiring in 2016. Anne Marie loved being in a crowd and her infectious laugh and bright smile always brought people together. She loved being outdoors and looked forward to her annual vacation at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont or walking the beach at Plum Island. Retirement allowed her to travel and spend more time with family and friends. She was always ‘on the go’ and could often be seen dining at one of her favorite North Shore restaurants, suntanning and listening to the waves at Long Sands Beach in York, ME or lounging by the pool before happy hour at Mercado in Naples, FL. At home, she enjoyed cuddling up with her ‘grand puppies’ Josie, Elton, Jack and Nico. She is survived by a son, Christopher Tyrrell and his husband Robert J Waters, Jr. of Waltham; a daughter, Heidi Tyrrell of Newburyport; a brother John Putney and sister in law Joan (Costley) Putney of Beverly and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Leppo. A graveside service will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Salem on Saturday September 26th at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA on Friday September 25th from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne Marie Tyrrell’s name to the American Cancer Association. Information, directions, condolences found at www.campbellfuneral.com
