He graduated from Lutheran Brethren Bible College in 1980 and spent a summer in Japan teaching English. He returned home and began working at the Harvey Hospital, going on to get his nursing degree from NDSSS at Wahpeton. Allan met Beverly Bayley, the love of his life, at a singles Bible study and they were united in marriage on May 28, 1983. He continued his studies to become a Respiratory Therapist and worked in Williston for one year , then in Rugby for the past 24 years.
