Mrs. Ruth Mae Woodley

<p><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;"><em><strong>Mrs. Ruth Mae Woodley</strong></em></span></span> transitioned peacefully on Sunday-September 20, 2020 at Accordius, formerly Waverly&nbsp;Health and Rehab Center, in Waverly, VA.<br /> Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Woodley; brother-Willie Boone; sister- Elizabeth McDonald; a grandson, a great grandson, 2 nephews; and other family members.</p> <p>Mrs. Woodley was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church (then under the direction of Bishop Samuel L. Cutler) until her health prevented her from actively attending.&nbsp; While at Canaan she became a Deaconess, was a member of the choir, and served on several boards.&nbsp; Over her years at Canaan she garnered many friendships with church members and would always speak well of the church and her Bishop, Samuel L. Cutler.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Anyone who knew Mrs. Woodley knew she was never at a loss for words; and would speak her mind.&nbsp;<br /> Left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted son John Holloway Sr. (Doris); sister Mary Green; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The family of Mrs. Woodley would like to thank Evangelist Gloria Gray and her husband Ocam for the many tireless hours they spent with Mrs. Woodley serving as companions and caregivers.<br /> A very special thank you to her &lsquo;special friend, more like daughter, Ida Hathaway (Roger)&rsquo; whom she often expressed much love for.&nbsp;</p> <p>The Woodley family would like to express their sincere thanks to all staff at Accordius, formerly Waverly&nbsp;Health and Rehab Center where Mrs. Woodley called home for the past year. The family of Mrs. Ruth Mae Woodley would also like to thank C.C. Carter Funeral Home for providing the final care services of our loved one.<br /> We all love and miss you Mother Woodley!!!!<br /> &nbsp;</p> <p>Viewing for Mrs. Woodley will be held from 1:00p.m until 5:00p.m Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at C.C.Carter Funeral Home. Inc. Mask are required for entry into the funeral home and Social Distancing will be enforced.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Graveside services for Mrs. Woodley are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Hampton Memorial Gardens&nbsp;by Bishop Samuel L. Cutler. The family is requesting for mask to&nbsp;be worn at the cemetery&nbsp;and Social Distancing will be enforced.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>It is the desire of the Woodley family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The family of Mrs. Ruth Mae Woodley has entrusted her final care to the staff of C.C. Mrs. Ruth Mae Woodley transitioned peacefully on Sunday-September 20, 2020 at Accordius, formerly Waverly Health and Rehab Center, in Waverly, VA.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Woodley; brother-Willie Boone; sister- Elizabeth McDonald; a grandson, a great grandson, 2 nephews; and other family members.

Mrs. Woodley was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church (then under the direction of Bishop Samuel L. Cutler) until her health prevented her from actively attending.  While at Canaan she became a Deaconess, was a member of the choir, and served on several boards.  Over her years at Canaan she garnered many friendships with church members and would always speak well of the church and her Bishop, Samuel L. Cutler. 
  

Anyone who knew Mrs. Woodley knew she was never at a loss for words; and would speak her mind. 
Left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted son John Holloway Sr. (Doris); sister Mary Green; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
