A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 7, 2020 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Rosita Abud Keller, age 89, passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital September 15, 2020. She was survived by her daughter, Linda Keller Ogé, and her husband Mark of Lafayette; her son, Miguel Keller of Crowley; three grandchildren, Michelle Bray of Houston, Texas and her husband John, and Zachary Oge’ and Mary Ogé of Lafayette; one sister, Maria Altagracia Abud of the Dominican Republic; and her two sisters in spirit, Margarita Eady, and Talita Reeves, and their children. Mrs. Keller is preceded in death by her husband Roderick Keller; her parents, Miguel Abud and Maria Abud-Hazim; one sister, Adela Abud; and three brothers, Neyi, Alejandro, and Miguel Abud. Rosita was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, graduated from business school, and worked for Chase Manhattan Bank and managed brother’s shirt manufacturing business. In 1958, she met her husband, Roderick, while he was working overseas in the oilfield. She immigrated to the Unites States and the people of Crowley, Louisiana welcomed her with open arms and open hearts. On her arrival, she knew little English and did not cook or drive a car. She mastered two out of three of those skills with the help of her new friends. Rosita immersed herself in many community and social organizations including the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hospital, the Crowley Town Club, and the Crowley Plant and Garden Club, for which she served a term as president. In 1977, Rosita proudly became a citizen of the United States. Rosita was an independent, gregarious, charismatic and adventurous spirit who celebrated life. She loved to entertain and was renowned for her cooking and dancing. Her home was a perpetual gathering place for parties (big and small), card games and morning coffee. She was a world traveler, a generous spirit, and a free speaker. The family would like to acknowledge the doctors, nurses and staff of Our Lady of Lourdes and the PACE-Lafayette Program for their compassionate and attentive care. The family is also deeply grateful to Dr. Matthew Williams, Dr. Bart Kyle, Dr. Kandace Deslatte, Dr. Sudipta Roy, Dr. Bobby Lee, Dr. Roderick Clark, Nadia Elsayed and Felicia Lewis for their extraordinary kindness and treatment.
