Robert "Bobby" Wesley Perry, Jr. Obituary

On September 18th, 2020, a piece of our hearts left us as he gained his passport to heaven.  Robert Wesley Perry Jr. (Bobby) was called home to be with our Lord, and his loved ones who are already in heaven.  While he will be missed tremendously, we take great joy in knowing he knew our Lord and Savior and is fully restored and at peace.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 21, 2020, in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Brother Josh Campbell officiating.  Eulogies will be provided by Bobby Brannen and Heath Cross. Graveside services to follow at Union Grove Church of God. The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, September 20th, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Social Distancing and masks are requested in order to attend.

Glenn Lee, Heath Cross, Chad Davis, Zach Postin, Josh Jones, and Lewis Hurst will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Cox, Jimmy Grubbs, Wendell Hall, George Westbrook, and other friends and members of Deep Dixie Association.

Bobby was born on February 14, 1953 in Tifton, Ga.  A true Valentine, he was a lover and loved his wife and family big.  He was super proud of all of his family and could often be heard bragging on their latest achievements.  He also loved to make people laugh and liked to play pranks on those he loved.  Christmas time would bring lots of laughs to all, and maybe a little embarrassment to the receiver of a gift from Bobby.  If you were around him for very long, he would often re-name you something on the comical side.  There was never a dull moment around him.

He came to know Jesus and accepted him as his Savior on December 5, 1988 at a youth meeting held at Wayside Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized thereafter.  He remained a member of Wayside and loved his church family.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army between 1973 and 1976 as a radar and missile technician.  During his time in the Army, he was stationed at Homestead Air Force base and also Stuttgart, Germany.

Bobby was employed at AirGas for 38 years in management and sales positions. He was top salesman in his company several years and received multiple awards and recognition for his strength in sales.  A true salesman at heart, he never met a stranger and loved to help those he loved get the best bargains when making big purchases.  Family and close friends would often enlist his help when purchasing a new automobile because they knew he would “wheel and deal” the salesman down to the very best bargain.  He loved the challenge and was possibly more proud of the outcome than the person actually making the purchase.

Bobby had hobbies consisting of hunting, fishing, and riding horses.  Horses were a big passion of Bobby’s and he barrel raced with Deep Dixie Association and National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA).  He especially loved watching his wife, daughter, grand-daughters, and on one occasion, his grand-son compete at shows. One could say family and horses were two of his biggest passions.  We find comfort in knowing he has been reunited in heaven with his beloved grand-daughter (Leslie) and that they are most likely riding horses down the streets of gold together.

Bobby was a member of Deep Dixie Association, National Barrel Horse Association, ABAC Presidents Club, and Tift County & Turner County Saddle Clubs.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Robert Wesley Perry; his mother, Betty Jane Morton; his step-father, Alvin Scarborough; his father and mother-in-law, Elbert & Carol McBrayer; his grand-daughter, Leslie Perry; and his sister, Pamela Lake.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Judy McBrayer Perry of Tifton, Ga; his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Lindsey Perry of Hensley, Arkansas; his daughter, Brittany Perry of Tifton, Georgia; four grandchildren, Wesley Perry, Caroline Perry, Lexie Lane, and Rylee Roberson; and his brothers Roy Scarborough (Jodie) and Al Scarborough.

The family would like to thank the staff in building 3 at The Orchard at Stone Creek in Hahira, GA and the staff of Hospice of South Georgia for their outstanding care.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Georgia Sherriff’s Youth Homes, 2048 Youngs Mill Rd, Lagrange, GA 30241, or the charity of your choice.

Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
