John “Jack” Rutherford

March 11, 1939 – September 18, 2020

It was with great sadness that the family of John “Jack” Rutherford gathered by his side as he peacefully passed away at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the age of 81 years.

He will forever be lovingly remembered by his wife Mavis; children, Dustyn Rutherford, Dale Peterson (Shelly) Sylvia Litke (Neil), Kalvin Peterson, Leonard Peterson (Cathy), Sue Gero, Darren Jorgensen, Donna Jorgensen and Denise Baumagartner (Rick) and his sister, Jean Nixon. Jack will also be fondly remembered by all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Jack is predeceased by his parents, Lyle and Mabel Rutherford; brothers Bob and Norman; sister Grace and brother-in-law Henry Nixon.

Jack was always working with hands – farming, wood working, and tinkering with machines, but the proudest work of his hands is his family and the time he was able to spend with them on holidays and camping.

Cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at Life Church, Drayton Valley, Alberta on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Due to Covid, seating is limited. A time of light refreshments will follow the service.

The family wishes to express their heart-felt gratitude to Dr. Botes and the staff at Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre for their compassionate care and support to Jack.
