Josephine DeIulis

Josephine “Josie” (DeLuca) DeIulis, of Lynn, died peacefully at her home on Friday, September 18, 2020, surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.  She was happily married to the late Mario DeIulis for 63 years.  Born in Carapelle Calvisio, L’Aquila, Italy in 1929, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Maria (DeLauretis) DeLuca.  She was raised and educated in Abruzzo, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1954.  Josephine was a master seamstress, making her own clothes.  She also knitted, donating hats, scarfs and sweaters to those in need.  She was a member of Holy Family Church, had a bountiful garden until the end of life and enjoyed spending winters in Cape Coral, Florida for over 40 years.  Josephine lived life to the fullest, had a sparkle and spunk and loved music and dancing, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was 91 years young.  Josephine was the loving mother of Anna Irvine of Swampscott and Anthony DeIulis and his wife Marie of Lynnfield; her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Kruegar and her husband Seth of Milton, Daniella Gates and her husband Jay of Amsterdam, Netherlands and Michael DeIulis and his wife Joanna of Charlestown; her 8 great-grandchildren; her sister Ada Milani of Toronto, Canada and her many nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Luigi DeLuca. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 in Holy Family Church, Lynn.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and are required to adhere the guidelines of the CDC, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Holy Family Church.  Visitation will on Monday in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St. (Rt. 1A), Lynn from 9-10:30a.m. and will be limited to 40 family and friends at a time.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
