Emmett Christman Obituary

Emmett "Chris" Christman, 92, of Cookville Road died suddenly at his home September 9th, 2020 while operating his John Deere tractor doing what he loved - caring for his property.

Born in New Haven, CT on October 12, 1927, he served in the US Navy and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

On July 21, 1947 he was married to Barbara Jane (Tuck) Palmiter of Borger Texas. They settled in New Haven, CT where Chris was a technician for the New Haven Gas Company. After his retirement they moved to Corinth in 1989, where he and Tuck quickly established friends and became part of the community. They often could be seen together, her tending the flowers and him mowing the expansive lawn or puttering.

He was a devoted husband and caregiver to Barbara during her long illness and she predeceased him in 2018.

Chris loved his dogs, always having at least one, and the latest was his beloved Cody, a rescue, who was at his side when he died and remained with him as long as possible.

Survivors include a son, Chris and his son, William of East Haven, CT, daughter Sharon and her husband, Leo of Stewartstown, NH and their children Michael of CA, Vickie St, George of Pittsfield, NH and her children Matthew and Madison.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at the West Cemetery on Cookeville Road in Corinth at 1pm on Thursday, September 24th. His wife Barbara will be interred at that time also, as per her wishes.

Hale Funeral Home in Bradford is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
