Audrey Black Obituary

Mrs. Audrey Linda Black of Tampa passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 19, at 2:00 p.m. at New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, 1605 N. Nebraska Ave. Tampa, FL with Reverend Dr. S. Evan Burrows, Sr., Pastor, of First Baptist Church of College Hill, officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Please follow the CDC guidelines.  Masks are required. 

Mrs. Audrey Linda Black was a native of Tampa, Florida born to the late Mrs. Pernetta Tolbert and the late Johnny Robinson.   She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County, completing her education at Don Thompson, (Howard W. Blake High School). 

Mrs. Black retired after working for the State of Florida for over 30 years as a custodian of the grounds at The University of South Florida.  She was a member of the Bay City ELKs for over 25 years and the Eastern Stars for many years.  Mrs. Black retired to be an active caregiver and grandmother of over 25 grands, about 35 great-grands and approximately 7-great-great grands.  She loved traveling, going to the Flea Markets all over the state of Florida, and attending to her flower gardens. 

Mrs. Black joined First Baptist Church of College Hill under the leadership of the late Reverend Abraham Brown and served faithfully until her health declined. 

She was preceded in death by: her father, Johnny Robinson; mother, Pernetta Tolbert; husband, Andrew Black; daughter, Linda Black; sister, Gwendolyn Simms; brothers, Ozell, Perry (Dump), and Elroy Tolbert;  sisters-in-laws, Charlene Tolbert, Rosetta Black, Willie Mae Wilson, Mary Ruth Black, Hazel Black, Louise Black, and Lillian Tolbert; brothers-in-law, Artis and Edis Black; and granddaughter, Sharvette Black. 

Her life will forever be cherished by: her children, Nita James, Robert Black, Norman Black (Erica), Valeria Moultry (Lonnie), Perry Black, and Lisa Black (Nicole); grandchildren, Dequan Moody (Sandricka), Niqua Moody, Geoffrey Black, LaShawn Jordan, Shalayia, Quanell, Shaquana, Shadeyia, and Varshawna Black, Krashona Black, Nita Williams (Jamieson), Shameka, Carey, Marcus, & Shakeba Black, Audrey Yvette Sosa (Cruz), Ashley and Jamaal Black, Deandre and Blake Black; great-grandchildren, Larry, Janicia, Demetrius, Macaria, Sanai, Dequan Jr., Hyana, Issani, Heaven, Tylow, Zyon, Jadah, Sasha, Malik, J’eianah, Jamieson Jr, Kumari, Cordell, Rodney, Isaiah Jr, Edgerrin, Deasean, Mista, Lisa, Zamari, Zakye, Jayla, Jayden, Carey, Deon, Xavier; great-great-grandchildren, Jazzlynn, Dominick, Lauren, Lalia and Duke; brother, Rudolph Tolbert; sisters-in-law, Gladys Wilson, Mamie L. Barksdale, Mittie Dawson (Ben), and Mildred Fitzpatrick; brothers-in-law, James Daniels (Earthann) and Carzell Black;  aunt, Wilda Cleveland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

The remains will repose from 3-7 p.m., Friday, September 18, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.

We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
