Mr. Ricky Lee Harper

The Management and Staff of Serenity Memorial Funeral Home extend its sincerest condolences to the family Mr. Ricky Lee Harper 57, who transitioned on Wednesday September 16, 2020, at the Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC. On March 25, 1963, Ricky Lee Harper was born to Annette and Jesse Harper. While fighting a courageous battle, God stepped in and said “Well done thou good and faithful servant, you have fought a good fight.” Ricky graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1981. After graduating from high school, he joined and served one term in the Air Force and was honorably discharged. After leaving the Air Force, he worked at Georgia Pacific for a short while. Ricky then in the State Prison system from which he retired. Ricky loved his family and enjoyed helping others in any way possible. He never met a stranger. Ricky was a diehard Tarheel basketball and Cowboy’s football fan. Ricky had a great love for music; with a great passion for drums and he was a self-taught lead guitar player. Ricky loved his church Deliverance Temple Revival Center of Dudley, and his church family under the leadership of Apostle Lester Coward. He was proceeded in death by his mother Annette and two brothers Reginald and Michael Harper and maternal Grandparents Joe and Savannah Fredrick, paternal Grandparents Russell and Julia Boone. He leaves to cherish is precious memories, his loving Wife Cynthia Harper, his Father Jesse Harper, his Children Ricky Harper Jr., Tyrell Burgess, Dakena (Ene) Ebong, Lorena Harper, Teena Davis, and India (Donald) Graham, Five Grandchildren Coriana Watson, Arianna Davis, Tyrashia Mcknight, Teanna Lewis, and Neriah Ebong. His Sister Takiyah (Donald) Carr, Sister- in- laws Debra and Vicky Harper, Two Brothers- in- law Reginal Durham and Jeffrey (Tanya) Durham, Godparents Bobby and Katrina Kornegay and a special Godfather Apostle Lester Coward, Aunts Laverne Blakely, Debra ( Tony ) Clevinger, Diane Bell, and Janet ( Daryl ) Hogue, and One Uncle Richard Pearsall, Special Neices Zakeya Harper and Alexis Carr and a special nephew Reginald Harper Jr., and a host of other nieces and nephews, special Cousins Timothy ( Monica ) Kornegay and Katina ( Calvin ) Core, Two special friends that he enjoyed talking sports and old times with Ronnie Core and Daletrico Avon Lee, and a host of other relatives and friends.
