A Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at St. Augustin Catholic Church in Des Moines with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial will be held 12:30 pm at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Rosa Lee was born on August 30, 1930 in Bayard, West Virginia to Giovanni and Marianna Del Signore. She was the eleventh of twelve brothers and sisters. She graduated from Beall High School, Frostburg, MD and the business school in Cumberland, Maryland. She worked as a clerk/typist for the Naval Operating Base in Norfolk, Virginia. Rose was introduced to Donald Hauser of Burlington, Iowa in 1953 and the two were engaged in 1954 and married at the Church of the Assumption in Keyser, West Virginia on August 28, 1954. The couple moved to Burlington, Iowa and lived between there and Aurora, Illinois during the period of 1958 to 1964 and then moved to Des Moines, Iowa where they lived from 1964 to present. Don and Rose recently celebrated their 66th anniversary. Rose and Don were blessed with seven children, Anna (Marty) Klinzing of Phoenix, AZ, Margaret (Dan) Martin of Alexandria, MN, Theresa (Roger) Finken of Indianola, IA, Elizabeth (Kent) Kirkpatrick of Urbandale, IA, Robert (Elizabeth) Hauser of Papillon, NE, Philip (Brenda Yearley) Hauser of Richfield, MN, and Gregory (Tanya) Hauser of Val Verde, CA. They have 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. While Rose’s main occupation was a homemaker and mother, she also worked as a medical office assistant and held a clerical position at Kemin Industries in the 1990’s. She spearheaded the preparation of a St. Augustin Cook Book in 1979 and was very proud of that accomplishment as well as taught religious education to St. Augustin sixth graders in the 1980’s. She and her husband were volunteer drivers for Blood Center of Iowa and Rose was a longtime volunteer for Hospice of Central Iowa. Rose was also a Red Hat lady in the late 1990’s. Rose and Don have traveled extensively in the United States visiting all 48 of the contiguous States of the Union and Hawaii and have made cruises to the Caribbean including a passage from the Pacific to the Atlantic through the Panama Canal. They also have traveled in Canada, Mexico, Islands of the Caribbean and Cartagena, Columbia in South America. Memorial Contributions can be designated to St. Augustin Catholic Church or the Altar and Rosary Society.
