Obituary
Marcia Karen Walker, 81, of Marshalltown, passed away at Iowa River Hospice on September 16, 2020. Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside memorial service will take place on Monday, September 21st, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Rose Hill Memorial Garden. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Marcia and her family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name for later designation. Born June 19th, 1939 in Ottumwa, IA, Marcia was the daughter of John Q. and Dorothy (Schmidt) Megrath. She graduated from Cardinal High School in Eldon, IA. Marcia married the love of her life, Jack Walker, on July 11, 1958. They lived together in Agency, IA while Jack served in the military before settling down in Marshalltown in 1962. Marcia was co-owner of AW Western Wear store and M&M Lunch Wagon concession stand. She also had her own leatherwork and embroidery business called Marcia Walker Monograms. She enjoyed volunteering, working with Comfort Keepers and sponsoring shows through the Tallcorn Trail Riders and Iowa Quarter Horse Association. In her free time, she liked knitting, hanging out and fishing at lakes and ponds and watching her grandkids’ sporting events. Marcia was a great cook and was best known for her homemade mac ‘n cheese. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jack Walker Sr.; her children: Denise (Rick) Hanke of Marshalltown and Jack (Kay) Walker Jr. of Rembrandt, IA; 4 grandchildren: Tyler (Georgia) Walker, Morgan Walker, Trent Hanke (Nicole Nielsen) and Colton Hanke; great-granddaughter Quinn Walker; and siblings: Sandy Clingman and Jeffrey Megrath. She is preceded in death by her son Timothy in infancy and her parents.
