Live-streaming Link...www.Facebook.com/fisherfuneral Precious Memories of Helen Lee Lenyon Williams “This is the Day the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Early morning, Wednesday, September 16, 2020, Helen Lee Lenyon Williams was escorted by Jesus Christ to her Heavenly Home at the age of 78. She was born on January 18, 1942, the first-born child of the late Morris H. Lenyon, Sr. and Addie Lowe Lenyon. She was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System, graduating from I C. Norcom High School, Class of 1960. She continued her education at Norfolk State University, BS Degree and Columbia University, New York, MS Degree. Her teaching career started in Nelson County, VA and continued in Portsmouth, VA at the I. C. Norcom High School and Woodrow Wilson High School Business Departments until her retirement. Helen Lee Lenyon Williams met and married the love of her life, Charles “Rock” Williams, September 25, 1966. This Union was blessed with two daughters, Charlene and Nicole. As a wife and mother, she was devoted to her family. Knowing that life would not be easy, she demonstrated a life of loving, giving, compromise, listening and applying the Word of God. Charles and Helen kept the doors to their hearts open so that they could always come to them, no matter what happened. The “cream in her coffee” became sweeter when they were blessed to become Grandparents. Her love, care and devotion to her grandsons, Jakolby and Trey, made them feel like they were the most important people in her life—they were!! Her sons in-law, Darrin Edwards and Randy Williams, came into her life during her illness. They stepped in to help provide assistance whenever needed. As an Aunt and Cousin, she often spoke up for the children when they needed to be rescued from their parents. Helen Lee Lenyon Williams was a lifetime member of St. John Baptist Church, currently under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Robert Earls, Sr. Her “strong alto voice” will be greatly missed by the Voices of St. John Choir. In the community, she provided “service to all mankind” for over fifty years through her beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Gamma Delta Omega Chapter, Portsmouth, Virginia. She was a Charter Member of the Delta Epsilon Chapter, Norfolk State University. Throughout her life, she was surrounded by her friends, especially Sondria Tazewell Lamb and Jester Peebles Smithwrick, who were there whenever she needed them, Helen Lee Lenyon Williams was preceded in death by her parents: Morris H. Lenyon, Sr. and Addie Lowe Lenyon; her sister: Davida Lenyon Harris; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. The “Precious Memories” of Helen Lee Lenyon Williams will be forever cherished by her husband: Rev. Dr. Charles “Rock” Williams; two daughters: Charlene W. Williams (Randy), Nicole W. Edwards (Darrin); two grandsons: Jakolby Hunter, Robert Earls, III; granddaughter: Taylor Edwards; two sisters: Bertha Ann Manning (Laurence), Addie Marie Lenyon; brother: Morris H. Lenyon, Jr. (Doris), Woodbridge, VA; two aunts: Ellen Lowe Davis, Evelyn Lowe Edmonds, Philadelphia, PA; uncle: Phillip M. Lowe (Daisy), Tacoma, WA; nephews: Morris Lenyon, III,, Michael Lenyon, Laurence Manning, Jr., Michael Manning, Lawrence Davis, Jr., Sameed Harris, David Harris; nieces: Christine Lenyon, Monica Lenyon, Tiffany Davis; cousin: Sylvia Davis Hill; Williams’ family in-laws, and a host of other relatives and friends..
