Catherine Juanell Hobbs Weatherford, Texas Obituary

Catherine Juanell Hobbs

Catherine Juanell Hobbs, age 87 of Weatherford, a loving wife, mother, and Nana, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. Juanell was born on July 16, 1933, in Rochester, Texas, to Fred and Lura (Duncan) Cox. She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1951, and married her sweetheart, William (Dub) Hobbs on October 26, 1951. They celebrated 65 wonderful years together. They also shared the same birthday, making that day extra special for the two. God blessed them with two sons, Gary and Rick. Juanell was a retired educational aide for the Weatherford Independent School District and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Dub and Juanell were inseparable and enjoyed many years of traveling as members of the Holiday Rambler Chaparral Club. In 1954, Bob McPherson, Pastor of North Side Baptist Church, stopped by for evening visitation. Juanell gave her heart to Jesus that night and has faithfully served the Lord in Christian service. She was a long-time active member of North Side Baptist Church where she taught second grade Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Evergreen Club and the Chapel Sunday School Class. Juanell’s heart belonged to her home and family. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. Many celebrations were held around her table. She brought so much joy and laughter to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nana”. Her memory will remain in their hearts forever. Juanell was preceded in death by her husband, William (Dub) Hobbs, her parents, Fred and Lura Cox, and brother, Paul Cox. She is survived by two sons, Gary Hobbs and wife, Jeanie, Rick Hobbs and wife, Melodie; four grandchildren, Will Hobbs, Zach Hobbs and wife, Audrey, Rachel Wagner and husband, Aaron, Amy Carr and husband, Jeff; the special blessing of five great-grandchildren, Henry, Cotton, and Doc Hobbs, and Eva and Everly Wagner, all of Weatherford. She is also survived by a brother, Bill Cox and wife, Fern, of Joshua, sister, Judy Hooper and husband, James, of Hearne; dear nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and cherished friends. Special thanks to Traci, Shyla, and all the staff at Hilltop Rehabilitation and Care Center, and Beyond Faith Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 10:00 a.m. at North Side Baptist Church. Refreshments and visitation with the family will be held in the youth room after the service, followed by burial at Memory Gardens in Weatherford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Side Baptist Church Heaven’s Handy Men.
