Curtis Michael Blockhus

<p>Curtis &lsquo;Curt&rsquo; Michael Blockhus, 77 of Citrus Heights, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020. Curtis was born on March 4, 1943 in Orange, CA to Clifford Blockhus and June Hillman. He spent his early years in Hinsdale, MT and at the age of 13 moved to California with his parents and younger brother, Jon Blockhus. He attended Washington High School in Fremont, CA and served in the United States Navy, stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. On July 31, 1966, Curtis married Mary &lsquo;Kathy&rsquo; Widner. Curtis and Kathy shared several homes in Northern California throughout their more than 54 years together. Keeping busy raising their four daughters, they spent family time grilling, camping, boating or washing cars. Each of their girls shared in Curtis&rsquo; admiration of cars and spent countless hours hanging out with Dad at the shop. Curtis spent his life in the automotive industry. His formative years as an apprentice began in 1966 at Edgren Motors in Fremont, CA. There he honed his skills with a mobile repair business before opening up his own shop. Curtis spent countless hours in the 60&rsquo;s and 70&rsquo;s racing at Fremont Drag Strip. He renewed his love of racing in the 90&rsquo;s, rebuilding a Plymouth Duster and racing in the Sears Craftsman Series at Sacramento Raceway. Curtis is survived by his wife, Kathy of Citrus Heights, CA, Daughters: Kellie Goodwin and son-in-law Chuck Goodwin of Meridian, ID, Shelley Blockhus and son-in-law Bernard Camarao of Burlingame, CA, Karalea de Koning and son-in-law Craig de Koning of Glen Ellen, CA, and Amanda Blockhus Yamamoto and son-in-law Eric Yamamoto of Rocklin, CA. Grandchildren: Brittany, Treston, Renan, Emmelina, Kai, Piper and Willem. Curtis also had a love of pets and had many in his lifetime. He is survived by his dog Rascal who protected him to the very end and then decided to be nice to the rest of the family. Curtis&rsquo; ashes will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.</p>
