Bobby G. Shafer, beloved husband, father and friend passed away at the age 84 on Saturday, September 12, 2020, peacefully in Boise. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Bob was born in Dora, New Mexico to Madison and Naomi (Todd) Shafer on October 1, 1935. Bob is the 3rd of 4 boys; Max, Doug and Donald Kay “DK”. Bob played center position with his high school basketball team. He graduated in 1952 and went on to complete 1 ½ years at the University of New Mexico. After college he did 2 years in the US Army. He then acquired his electrician’s license. His work took him to many exciting places. He has lived and worked in Mountain Home and the Boise area since 1962. This included working on the underground silos near the base. His Boise crew played many pranks on him because he was so good natured. Bob was a kind and giving person. Bob’s hobbies were many, his favorite were dancing, hunting and woodworking. He and Goldie built a cabin at Featherville and enjoyed the area in their retirement. He was also a member of Mountain Home Elks Lodge, a member of the Glenns Ferry Masonic Lodge. Bob is survived by his wife Goldie of 45 years, his son Donny (Debbie) Shafer, Oklahoma City, Ok, daughter Gail (Lonnie) Jurgens, LaCenter, WA, daughter Linda (Chris) Jones, Placerville, ID, grandchildren: Quin (Haley) Logan, Levi (Kari) Logan, Christopher (Julie) Jones, Chrystol (William) Longden, Laurie (Alonzo) Waddle, Leanne (Barry) Hawley, great-grandchildren Amanda and Ryan Jones, Kyle Hill, Alex, Jonathan and Kati Logan, Lucas and Tyler Longden, Bryce and Brookelyn Waddle, Blain and Cody Logan and 2 great-great-grandchildren, his brother Donald Kay “DK”, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Madison, mother Naomi and brothers Max and Doug and his son Mike Logan.
