Celina Marie Williams Mays-Rainey was a native of Napoleonville, LA and a resident of Gonzales, LA. She departed this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the Gonzales Health Care nursing facility at the age of 65. Celina was born on August 13, 1955 to the union of Helen Reed and the late Henry “Bubba” Williams, Sr. Celina accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an incredibly young age, as she was baptized at the Bright Morning Star Baptist Church in 1968 by the late Rev. Dr. Cleveland Williams, Sr. Celina from a young age, until the declining stage of her health was a faithful member of her church’s choir and the mass choir and the Missionary Southern Baptist Association of the 5th. District. She was known as the “Gospel Queen of the Bayou”. Some of her familiar songs of praise were “Walk Around Heaven”, “Soon Will Be Done with the Troubles of this World” and “Because He Lives”. She blessed many during their time of Matrimony she sang “The Lord’s Prayer”. Celina was an employee with the Assumption Parish School System for approximately seventeen years upon her retirement. She held the position of domestic engineer at the Napoleonville Middle School for the entire time of service, Celina leaves to cherish her beautiful memories her only child Shekema Trisehell Williams-LeBlanc, Gonzales, LA., One grandchild, Ishmael Jeremiah Wilson, Gonzales, LA., Her mother Helen Reed of Fort Worth, TX., one brother, Hervy “June” (Laura) Williams, Jr., of New Orleans, LA., Four sisters: Ann Marie (Gerald) Lyons of Napoleonville, LA., Janice (Gregory) Williams of Baton Rouge, LA., Etta Williams of Shreveport, LA., and Mary Francis of Houma, LA., Four God-children: Adrien Holmes, Delvin Williams, Jr., Bryant Jones and Angella Riney, One adopted God-child, Iris Williams-Britten. A devoted friend, Martina Williams, Dianne Cheavious, Joyce Daniels, Hester “Cookie” Sheffie, Barbara North-Williams, Lucy Wise and Horace Mitchell. A longtime home assistant caretaker Shalethia Lacey. A host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends of the Williams and the Rainey family. Celina was proceeded in death by her daughter “Baby” Ian’Rell Rainey, her father, Hervy “Bubba” Williams, Sr., her maternal & paternal grandparents, a devoted cousin and sister in love, Deddra Mae Holmes, two devoted friends, Andrea Turner and Karen Bridges and “Her” forever love Jeffery James Rainey.
