<p><strong>Masks are recommended, but not required, for the visitation &amp; services.</strong></p> <p>LeRoy Bucy, son of LeRoy and Anna Bucy, was born April 15, 1930 on a farm northeast of Wolbach, Nebraska. He passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Creston, Iowa at the age of 90 years.</p> <p>He moved with his parents and twin sister, Leona, to a farm south of Benton, Iowa in March 1940. He attended the Benton School and graduated with the Class of 1948.</p> <p>On January 26, 1951 he was united in marriage to Maxine Groves. To this union was born 4 children: Patricia Dianne, Jean Louise, Richard Carl. A daughter, Barbara Lynn, was stillborn February 4, 1956.</p> <p>He was inducted into the U.S. Army in November of 1951 and served a year in Korea. He was honorably discharged in August 1953. He was a lifetime member of the Creston V.F.W. Post #1797 and a member of the American Legion Post 70 also in Creston.</p> <p>LeRoy was a farmer and later operated the Benton Service Station before moving to Creston in 1966. He was employed as a molder in the foundry at Hills McCanna (Wellman Dynamics) retiring after 20 years in 1996. He later worked at Walmart for several years in various jobs but enjoyed his job as greeter the most. He lived in Creston until 2016 when he moved to an assisted living residence in Lenox and then moved to Creston Specialty Care in March 2019.</p> <p>He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the garden and old tractors. He especially loved spending time with his family and taking his grandchildren fishing and on vacation trips. One of his greatest memories was being able to go to Washington, D.C. in 2014 on a Veteran&rsquo;s Honor Flight.</p> <p>He is survived by his children; Patti of Riverton, Wyoming, Jean (Bob) of Atlantic, Iowa and Rich (Judi) of Des Moines, Iowa; 6 grandchildren Jamey (Chuck Park), Mike Barnes, Bud Bucy, Erika (Richard) Binns, Brandon and Tiara Downey and 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; two step-granddaughters Janet (Mike) Lose and their two daughters Mackenzie and Morgan and Jennifer (Scott) Pederson and her son Nick; his sister Leona of Nevada, Iowa; sister-in-law Louise Frost and brother-in-law Dave (Betty Lou) all of Mount Ayr, Iowa.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine in 2010; his daughter Barbara Lynn; parents LeRoy and Anna Bucy; parents-in-law Carl and Iona Groves; a half-brother Howard Anderson; 2 half-sisters Doris Wallace and Lois Spears; a step sister Doris Anderson and 2 brothers-in-law Tom Groves and Dean Frost.</p> <p>Memorials are to the Benton Community Center and Wounded Warrior Project.</p>
