Alice Celeste MacNeil Obituary

Alice Celeste MacNeil With much sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Celeste MacNeil (80) of Greenhill, Pictou Co. on Sept 12. Celeste was an exceptional person, always showing quiet kindness to others. She graduated from Queen Elizabeth High. Celeste taught school in a literal one-room schoolhouse before entering the VG School of Nursing. Her life took a bit of a fairytale turn when she and her husband created StoryBook Village, then Magic Valley, bringing much joy to the children of NS and beyond. Celeste spent her winters on the slopes of Wentworth for as long as she was able and even at 70 she could handle her way down a black diamond. She traveled to as many places as she could, falling in love with Europe. There was so much she still wanted to see and explore. She is survived by her mother, Alice Celeste Bond and her children Kim (Karl) Sorensen and Brad (Patricia) MacNeil and her siblings Charles (Ardis) Bond, Anita (Steve) Taylor, Avora (Earle) Babcock, Karen (Tom) MacDonald, Eleanor (Ron) Bond, and Shelley West. She will be forever missed by her grandchildren - Kayla MacDonald, Thomas, Alexandra, Gabrielle and Emily Sorensen, and more nieces and nephews than we can often count. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Bill; her father Arthur Bond and her bother Kirby. True to herself and not wanting to not “put anyone out,” Celeste wished to be cremated and to have a quiet service at a time when her siblings were all able to be in NS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to cancer or leukemia research.
