Helen L. Gaby Obituary

Helen L. Gaby passed away peacefully Thursday, September 10, 2020, shortly after noon, with family by her side. Born November 16, 1926, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel (Smith) Williams. Helen grew up with two younger brothers; Marion "Pete" Williams, who survives in Georgia, and Gerald Williams who passed away in November of 2019. Helen was a 1945 graduate of Logansport High School. While Helen was working at Porter's Drug Store, a young man by the name of Glen E. Gaby, Jr., - who worked at the State Theatre - would stop in to eat lunch. They became high school sweethearts. Glen proposed to Helen on her birthday in 1945 during a basketball game in the Berry Bowl. The couple were married on July 31, 1946. After 37 years, Helen retired from RBM/Essex and lived the rest of her life with Glen by her side. Surviving with her husband, Glen, of 74 years are their children: David Gaby, of Hammond, Bridget Carringan, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Teresa (Jerry) Frame, of Royal Center; and Heidi (Jeff) Lentz, of Bremen; and one daughter-in-law, Laura Gaby. They both enjoyed having all the family together, which was A LOT, with above children plus their eleven grand children and fourteen great-grand children. In addition to her parents and brother, two sons, Glen "Bud" Gaby III and Tim Gaby, daughter-in-law, Barb Gaby, and grandson, Kevin Gaby, preceded her arrival in Heaven. A Funeral Service celebrating Helen's life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's memory to the Pioneer High School Marching Band.
