Bernice Jean Lee
Bernice Jean Lee was born on August 10, 1949, in Regina, to parents Frank and Jean Arkell. Bernice passed from this life on September 7, 2020, in Tisdale Saskatchewan at the age of 71. Bernice was the only daughter of Frank and Jean Arkell. Bernice lived in Eldersley; she attended elementary school in Eldersley and high school in Tisdale. In 1970, Bernice married Raymond Lee of Sylvania. They lived in Tisdale for one year and later purchased a house in Sylvania. Bernice and Raymond have four children, Shawn (Dianne) Lee born April 2, 1971, Heather (Don) Zachow born October 26, 1973, Wendy (Mike) Lee born January 3, 1975 and Raeanne (Chad) Zbeeshko born November 4, 1982. In her early years, Bernice worked for Ross McCallum at the Robinson store and Zoerb’s Bakery. When Raymond and Bernice decided to start a family, she was able to stay at home and raise her kids as well as looking after other kids in the community. In April 1986, Raymond and Bernice started Ray’s Auto Electric and Air Conditioning business in Tisdale, where she ran the front office and kept the books. She was also known as “the boss(y).” In August 1987, when Bernice’s mother retired, Bernice took over as Postmistress in Sylvania during the winter months while continuing to work at the shop throughout the year. Bernice was very active in the Sylvania community, being on the board of the Sylvania Hall, organizing and helping sell Dinner Theater tickets for many years, as well as billing the utilities for the hamlet. Bernice enjoyed camping and fishing as well as running her four kids to all of their activities. She also took pride in her many flowers proudly displayed throughout the yard. Bernice and Raymond also enjoyed setting up their Halloween and Christmas displays for the whole community to enjoy. Bernice was predeceased by her parents and 10 of Raymond’s siblings. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 50 years Raymond, her four children and their spouses, six grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends.Obituary
