Julita Tan-Torres

Julita Buan Tan-Torres, known affectionately to the family as "Juling", was born on June 17, 1921, to Victorio Buan and Maria Bulaon in Arayat Pampanga, Philippines. She spent her youth and early years in Pampanga and later moved to Manila where she worked as a seamstress at a designer dress shop. Sewing and crocheting were her lifetime passions, and she made and gifted numerous items for family and friends. One of her biggest passions was gardening and she had a well known green thumb for growing beautiful orchids and roses. She loved cooking for family and friends, and her home cooking specialties were appreciated by everyone. Juling was a devoted wife and loving mother to her children. She married her long time sweetheart, Horacio Tan-Torres, a chemist/pharmacist from Malabon Rizal. They lived in Malabon, where they raised their two children. They migrated to the United States later in life to be closer to their adult children and family. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen shortly after moving. Juling volunteered at the Kent Senior Activity Center where she did community service and made new friends. Her deep faith and religion were a very important sustaining part of her entire life. Juling passed away peacefully at her Care Home in Renton. She is predeceased by her husband, Horacio Sr, and older sister, Felicita Kabigting. She is survived by her daughter, Nadia Tanita (husband Clyde) and son Horacio Jr, (wife Mariquita). Her three grandchildren are Beej Paez, Ivy Stringfield (husband Wayne), Ilyn Barrington (husband Jeff ). Her great grandchildren are Sarah and Grace Stringfield. She has a surviving sister, Adelaida Leandicho and numerous nieces and nephews, who all live in Pampanga.
