Pecolia M. Boone

On Thursday morning, September 10, 2020 Pecolia “Cora” Marcella Boone passed away peacefully answering the beckoning of God almighty and took her place among the angels of glory. She was Born on November 29, 1942 in Portsmouth Va. to Wricey Weal & Fedessa Weal. She was the Sibling to 7 Brothers & Sisters. She resided in Portsmouth Va. her entire life and was Educated in the Portsmouth Public schools system. Shortly after completing her education she happily married the love of her life Robert Lee Boone Sr. on Dec 5, 1959, until he was called home to the lord on June 28, 2000. She remained a widow up until her passing. Pecolia was the mother of 10 children 7 boys and 3 girls. She was predeceased by her son Fred Douglass Boone on October 1, 1996 and then predeceased by her grandson Douglass Taylor on June 8, 2017. Pecolia “Cora” Boone worked for many many years at Georgia Pacific & was a loving Housewife, mother, Sister, grandmother, great grandmother Aunt & Great Aunt. Pecolia “Cora” Boone was a Woman of God & a faithful member of Zion Bethel UCC for many many years. She was strong in her faith and when diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1991 she held onto Gods unchanging hands and fought to become a Cancer Surivor. “Ma Boone” & “Gma” as many would call her, was a real straight forward queen who was adored, loved & respected by many who came into contact with her. She was the neighborhood friend & grandmother to many and was deeply loved. She was the backbone & matriarch of the Boone family & will be missed tremendously. She was predeceased by her Father Wricey Weal, Mother Fedessa Weal, Sister Ellen Weal, Son Fred Douglass Boone and grandson Douglass Taylor.
