Rodney Lee Artz Sr., 83, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away at his home, on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Rodney was born on Thursday, July 1, 1937 in Harrison, Illinois to Jean and May Meinheit Artz Sr. Rodney was a loving husband, son, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor, and friend. Rodney was married to Esther E. Morrison in 1955, they had four children but later divorced. Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Jean and May Meinheit Artz Sr; four brothers, Jean Artz Jr, George “Jiggs” Artz, James Artz, and William F. Artz; and two sisters, Mary Lou Richter and Lois Joan Artz. Rodney leaves behind his wife, Diana Peve Artz, of the home; two sons, Rodney “Rod” Artz Jr. of Pecatonica, Illinois and Brian Robinson of Arkansas; six daughters, Kathy (Rick) Burfield of Pecatonica, Illinois, Chris (Randy) Geiser of South Carolina, Loreene (George) Brews of Dakota, Illinois, Sheila (Rick) Moore of Yuma, Arizona, Sally (Robert) Gipson of Pocahontas, Jeannie (Chris) Fort of Pocahontas; three brothers, Jerry (Sharon) Artz of Loves Spark, Illinois, Lyle Artz of Kennett, Missouri and John Artz; one sister, Helen Stell-King of Loves Spark, Illinois; two brother-in-laws, Ray (Donna) Peve of Pocahontas and Arthur (Terri) Peve of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Lila Carr of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Joshua, Brandon, Jason, Sarah, Nick, Josh, Landon, Chloe, Sarah and Sophie; seventeen great grandchildren; and many other loved ones and friends. All services for Rodney will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on Monday, September 14, 2020. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Rodney’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 4:00 pm, with Steve Alexander officiating. Cremation has been chosen as the method of final disposition and the cremation process will be initiated at the conclusion of services. The family wishes to respectfully designate the following individuals as honorary pallbearers, Rodney’s good friends Willie, Scott, Ronnie, and Tim. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Rodney’s honor to the charity of your choice. COVID-19 restrictions are in effect. Those attending must follow the directives issued by the Governor of Arkansas that include, but are not limited to, the following: wearing a face covering, signing the contact registry, and maintaining social distancing at all times.
