Richard "Rick" K. Wear

<p>Richard &ldquo;Rick&rdquo; K. Wear, age 66, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. &nbsp;Rick was born in Portsmouth, OH on February 1, 1954 to the late George and Esther (Wendelken) Wear.</p> <p>Rick is survived by his children: Heather (Jeff) Van Cleef of Hilliard, OH; Michelle (Eric) Hammer of Covington, KY, and Nicholas Wear of Columbus; grandchildren: Mackenzie Van Cleef, Alexis Van Cleef, and Delaney Van Cleef; life partner: Joannie Copeland; siblings: Scott Wear of Carabella, FL; Tom (Markie) Wear of King George, VA; and Rachel Collingsworth of West Portsmouth, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother: Larry Wear and brother-in-law: Dean Collingsworth.</p> <p>Rick was a 1976 graduate of The Ohio State University and was a manager at Friendly&rsquo;s Restaurant for 26 years.&nbsp; He was an avid Buckeye and music fan, loved traveling but mostly loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren&rsquo;s sporting events.</p> <p>A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 AM &ndash; 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Yabos Tacos, 5242 Cemetery Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026. &nbsp;</p> <p>Memorial Contributions may be made to The Ohio State University Heart &amp; Vascular Center Annual Fund at www.giveto.osu.edu in memory of Rick Wear.&nbsp; Condolences may be expressed to the family through www.bairdfuneralhome.com.</p>

Rick was a big part of my growing up. I worked for him from 18-24 years old and he taught me a ton not only about work but also just life in general. We had some great times in and out of work. Rick liked to laugh and have fun above all else.....which we did.

So very sorry to hear the loss of Uncle Ricky. He was always a great guy and I hope that everyone remembers all of the good times and always keeps Ricky and family in their thoughts and prayers.
