Joseph M. Badurina

Joseph M. Badurina, of Marlton, New Jersey. On Tuesday, September 8, 2020, Joseph “Jozo” Badurina, passed away at the age of 81. Born in the tiny village of Nerezine, of the former Yugoslavia (now Croatia,) Joseph was raised as both a carpenter and musician, naturally talented in drums, piano, and accordion. As a teenager in the 1950’s, he traveled the beautiful islands of the Adriatic Sea in Yugoslavia with his father, also a musician, and together they played their music at weddings and dances in local villages, where he eventually met his future wife Renata. Joseph and his parents escaped communist Yugoslavia in 1957, lived in a refugee camp in Italy, waiting for their opportunity to come to the United States. Arriving in Astoria, New York, he continued playing the accordion, eventually forming a small orchestra, "Joe Badurina and the Sky Riders." He learned the English language and proudly became a citizen of the United States in January 1965. Joseph worked as a carpenter and woodworking machinist, which would become his lifelong trade of self-employment. Joseph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Renata (nee Baricevic) Badurina, his children Dennis Badurina, Doris (nee Badurina) Baratti, and David Badurina, and predeceased by his son, Joseph Badurina Jr. Loving grandfather to Dennis, Sean, David, Nina, Ava, Sophia, Justin, Ryan, Alexis, Matthew, Miro, Hartman and Jefferson, and fondly loved and remembered as ‘Borba Jozo’ by many nieces and nephews. Private inurnment, Parkview Cemetery and Mausoleum at Kirby’s Mill, Medford, New Jersey.
