Mary Sue Wilson Obituary

Mary Sue Wilson, 95, of Harold, Florida, passed away, Monday, September 7, 2020. Sue was the daughter of a farmer, and was born in Hermitage, Arkansas, on November 7, 1924. She graduated from Hermitage High School in 1941. She left home soon after graduation to go to Washington D.C. to work for the F.B.I. While in Washington D.C., she met her future husband, James Clifford Wilson, who was stationed aboard a ship (Navy man) there. The two were married on October 5, 1945. After Clifford was discharged from the Navy she resigned from her job and they came back to his hometown of Harold, Florida, to settle down. They were married 65 years. Sue was postmaster of the Harold Post Office for 42 years, Secretary of the First Baptist Church of Harold and Secretary of the family business, Wilson Lumber Co., and raised their four children, three boys and a girl, and her granddaughter, Velda. Busy woman, huh? Sue was elected to be church clerk and treasurer of the First Baptist Church, here in Harold, and served for 56 years. She gave herself to the Lord 100 %. After her husband Clifford passed away, and rather than living alone, she moved into an assisted living home, The Forsyth House. She was very happy there and close enough for her family to visit her on a regular basis. Sue leaves a beautiful memory to all who knew and loved her. God Bless her memory. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Stuart and Eunice Bradley Stuart; a brother, Joe Stuart; and a daughter, LaDonna Wilson. Sue is survived by a sister, Gillis (L.T.) Couch; a niece, Sharon Couch; her children, Van L Wilson, of Harold, Florida, Marc R Wilson, of Harold, Florida, and Gary (Faye) Wilson, of Harold, Florida; six grandchildren, Velda Wilson, Waylon Wilson, Frank (Raeann) Wilson, Stuart (Bridget) Wilson, Jon Wilson, and Tammy (Richard) Bardin; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, JC Wilson, Brittany Lane, Dylan Peacock, Logan Bardin, Sidney Bardin and Grayson Wilson; five great- great-grandchildren, Makenna Peacock, Brook Lynn Hoyt, Breanna Hoyt, Cameron Hoyt and Katie Lynn Lane. Family viewing, for Sue Wilson, will be held 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., on Friday, September 11, 2020, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. The family will welcome friends and guests from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Harold, with Brother John Edwards III and Rev. Mike Poston officiating. Burial will follow services, in the Harold Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing.
